Mais Oui was never meant to be just another villa.
It began with a simple idea: to create a place where families and friends could experience a different side of Jamaica while enjoying the privacy, comfort, and personal service of a fully staffed villa.
We didn’t want to build a villa in Jamaica. We wanted to build a villa that feels like Jamaica.
That simple idea has guided almost every decision we’ve made.
Jamaica has always been more than a destination to us. It’s home.
For Sherry, that love began in childhood with family trips to Discovery Bay, where the excitement of catching that first glimpse of the sea never grew old.
As tourism evolved, we became increasingly aware that many visitors experienced only one version of Jamaica. Beautiful resorts, certainly, but often separated from the culture, craftsmanship, traditions, food, and everyday life that make this island so extraordinary.
We wanted to offer something different.
Not an alternative to Jamaica.
A deeper experience of it.
Today, that philosophy is woven throughout Mais Oui.
Much of our furniture has been handcrafted by Jamaican artisans. The artwork throughout the villa celebrates Jamaican artists. Our medicinal garden honors the island’s rich herbal traditions. Our menus showcase local ingredients and beloved Jamaican dishes. Even many of the experiences we create are designed to help guests discover Jamaica in meaningful and authentic ways.
Whether guests spend their days exploring the island or never leave the property, our hope is the same: that they leave feeling like they’ve experienced the real Jamaica.
Because we believe the most memorable vacations don’t simply happen in a place.
They help you understand it.
Mais Oui has continued to evolve, but the reason behind every improvement has remained the same.
Every new idea begins with two questions:
Does it help families spend more meaningful time together?
Does it still feel unmistakably Jamaican?
Whether it’s creating a new guest experience, introducing a wellness offering, adding an amenity, investing in renewable energy, or simply finding another way to delight our guests, if the answer isn’t yes to both, it doesn’t belong at Mais Oui.
A beautiful villa may catch your attention.
But it’s the people who make you want to come back.
From the very beginning, we’ve believed that hospitality is about caring for people.
That’s why we’ve invested just as much in our team as we have in the property itself.
Many of the people who welcome our guests have been part of the Mais Oui family for years. Their professionalism, warmth, pride, and genuine care shape every stay.
We are incredibly proud of them because they care for our guests the same way we would. In many ways, they have become an extension of our family, and they are at the heart of the Mais Oui experience.
Jamaica will always be home for me.
I still see this island through the eyes of the little girl who couldn’t wait to catch that first glimpse of the sea during family trips to Discovery Bay.
Today, one of my greatest joys is helping guests discover the Jamaica beyond the postcards.
Whenever Darrell and I travel, I come home with pages of notes inspired by exceptional hospitality, thoughtful design, and memorable experiences. Then I ask myself,
“How can we reinterpret this in a way that feels unmistakably Jamaican?”
Many of the experiences guests enjoy today began exactly that way.
My goal has never been to recreate what we’ve seen elsewhere.
It’s to interpret those ideas through the warmth, hospitality, and culture of Jamaica.
Nothing makes me happier than hearing a guest say,
“This wasn’t the Jamaica we expected.”
Because that’s exactly what we’ve always hoped to share.
One of my favorite parts of Mais Oui is getting to know the families who choose to spend their vacation with us.
Long before guests arrive, we’ve usually talked about who’s traveling, what they’re celebrating, and what they hope this trip will mean to the people they love.
Those conversations matter.
They help us understand not just what you’re planning, but what kind of memories you’re hoping to create.
By the time you arrive, I don’t want you to feel like you’re checking into a property.
I want you to feel like you’re arriving somewhere people have been looking forward to welcoming you.
Nothing is more rewarding than hearing from guests years later when they’re planning their next family gathering, anniversary, or reunion.
For me, that’s what hospitality is all about.
I grew up with Mais Oui.
Some of my favorite childhood memories happened here, swimming with my cousins, late-night movie nights, ping pong competitions, tennis, and simply spending time together as a family.
I’ve been fortunate to travel to many beautiful places, but Mais Oui has always felt special because it reminds me that the best vacations aren’t usually about doing more.
They’re about being together.
I hope your family leaves with memories like the ones I was lucky enough to grow up with.
Since welcoming our first guests in 2000, some things have changed.
Our mission hasn’t.
We still believe Jamaica is more than a destination.
We still believe that time together is one of life’s greatest luxuries.
And we still believe that the best hospitality comes from genuine people who love what they do.
Our hope is that every guest leaves with wonderful memories, a deeper appreciation for Jamaica, and the feeling that, even if only for a little while, this beautiful island felt like home.
We look forward to welcoming you.
