Real Stories: How One Couple Celebrated Their 25th Wedding Anniversary in Jamaica
Judith and Gary wanted a unique and memorable way to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary in Jamaica.
Why?
They had gone to school in Jamaica, were married in Jamaica, and now live and work in the US. So, they wanted to celebrate with friends from both the US and Jamaica.
They chose Mais Oui, a private fully-staffed boutique villa in Discovery Bay as the location to commemorate their 25th wedding anniversary in Jamaica.
They invited eight of their closest friends to join them for a four night stay.
They knew they wanted to make the stay extra special as an acknowledgment of their friendship over the years and also as a thank you to their guests for joining them.
While they wanted the whole weekend to be an amazing experience, the 25th wedding anniversary dinner was to be the highlight of the stay with an emphasis on great food, good quality drinks, nice decor, lighting, and entertainment.

Here’s what they did …
THURSDAY
Judith and Gary and two friends who had never been to Jamaica before arrived at the villa.
FRIDAY
After breakfast, they spent the morning and early afternoon at Puerto Seco Beach Club using Mais Oui’s membership.
Two of their guests landed in Montego Bay later that day. They used Club Mobay to speed through customs and immigration at the airport. Our trusted driver for many years met them at the airport and brought them to the villa. Four other friends arrived by car from Kingston.
Once all the guests had arrived, there was a meet and greet to relax and get to know each other.
This was followed by an all white dinner set up in the tennis garden near the waterfall.
Guests were asked to bring their cameras to help document the celebration. They were surprised with an incredible interactive fire show. The cameras did not stop clicking.
SATURDAY
After breakfast, they went river tubing on Bengal River, thought to be the river that attracted Columbus to land in 1494.
Guests then returned to the villa and indulged in some of the most relaxing massages before getting ready for the main event, the anniversary dinner.
The couple’s photographer for their actual wedding had gone to the wrong church and so they had no photos of their wedding ceremony. They hired a photographer and videographer to capture the evening to make sure that they had more than enough photos over which to reminisce this go around.
A DJ was hired to belt out their favorite tunes.
Since this was a very intimate event, they wanted to have a slide show of pictures of them and their friends throughout the years.
The color scheme was royal blue, white, and silver, a nod to Judith’s beautiful royal blue gown.
To make sure that the dinner was more special than the welcome dinner, a round table for 10 with white table cloth and a silver runner, silver chiavari chairs, crystal chargers with silver beading, royal blue napkins and chair sashes were rented from Tropical Weddings in Jamaica.
Crystal glassware graced the table. The centerpiece was a tropical mix along with orchids.
WEDDING ANNIVERSARY DINNER MENU
Appetizer: smoked marlin with cream cheese on baguette, stamp and go (codfish fritters), bacon-wrapped plantains

The cake was a traditional Jamaican fruit cake displayed on a shimmering glass and crystal cake stand.
The topper for the cake matched the centerpiece and was accentuated by a custom topper provided by the couple.
A red velvet cake with coconut filling was also provided.
SUNDAY
The group spent most of the afternoon at Stush in the Bush, a plant-based farm-to-table experience about an hour’s drive east of the villa.
MONDAY
After a wonderful stay, the guests bid each other fond farewell after a wonderful breakfast.
Judith and Gary had an amazing experience for their wedding anniversary in Jamaica which they and their guests raved about.
Google Review
“Our stay at Mais Oui Villa was incredibly special. The original plan for a quiet getaway with our closest friends became a much more memorable event because of the vision and insight of the owners and staff.
The property is pristine, overlooking the Caribbean Sea, and is complemented by amenities such as an enclosed outdoor pool with hot tub, tennis/basketball court, gazebo with water feature, garden of Jamaican herbs, elevated decks with expansive views of the ocean, a treehouse, as well as a spa with private soaking tub and outdoor shower.
The accommodations were impeccably clean, spacious and comfortable, with couples having access to private space in which to relax and reconnect when not interacting with other guests.
There is air conditioning for those who need a respite from the warm tropical weather. The villa’s proximity to more intimate and authentic Jamaican experiences is invaluable.
Mr. S. Smith, who was our designated driver and tour guide, was professional, prompt and personable. His contribution to our experience cannot be minimized.
The villa staff is led by Mr. D. Johnson, the villa’s butler. The attention to detail cannot be overstated, with the quality of meals and housekeeping extras (such as a surprise warm bath drawn at the end of a long day of celebration) being among the personal touches that made our stay so memorable. The pièce de resistance of our visit was a formal celebration dinner which was perfectly executed.
Our group is incredibly energized by the memories created by our time together at Mais Oui Villa.
Thanks to the owners and staff for caring for us so well!
We recommend very highly!!” – Judith and Gary
